Billy Collins is himself a poem

I’m sure it’s illegal somewhere to do what the erudite Billy Collins does so well with the 26 letters of our alphabet. And I’m so glad he gets away with it. If a poem is a cultural artifact then Billy is a poem…

I know. You’re still waiting for Part II of Paris, and that is coming, I promise. It’s turned out to be a heartbreaking summer with wrongful acquittals, deaths of a dear friend and the young son of another; added to mentoring youth on the fringes. I breathe, put one foot in front of the other and move forward a step a day; packing the kid for college, making meals, revising the novel.

The heartbreak makes it hard to move, and then I’m sent the below TED Talk by Billy Collins and remember that life has balance.
