Life is busy right now. One day left before we drive off to deliver the college freshman.
In between packing and going through boxes of Kleenex, I continue revisions on the novel.
I welcome this distraction ~ a chance to keep my promise and bring you Part II of PARIS : Food & Art
Marie-Guillemine BENOIST: Portrait de Négresse, 1800 Musée du Lourvre
Musée D’Orsay ~ magnificently restored Beaux-Arts train station; 19th century art. My favorite museum in Paris:
GUSTAVE CAILLEBOTTE, Raboteurs de parquet, 1875 One of my top five favorite paintings.VINCENT VAN GOGH, La Nuit étoilée, 1888 Starry Night Over the RhoneLa Chambre de Van Gogh á Arles, 1889 [Van Gogh’s Bedroom in Arles]
Musée du Lourve ~ what
ALEXANDROS of ANTIOCH, Aphrodité tés Mélou, Between 130-100 BC [Venus de Milo]JEAN-AUGUSTE-DOMINIQUE INGRES, Le Bain Turc, 1862 [The Turkish Bath]
Ingres’ precise abstraction of the human body works for me; those necks require extra vertebrae! Quite simply: the man could draw.
Musée Rodin ~ another favorite for the statues in the gardens ~
Rue De Montorgueil 75001~ we call it The Foodie Street
They drew us in with samples out on the street ~ Our pizza was delicious, as was the wine. The manager was a charmer from Napoli!
Mapped Neighborhood Walks, Good Eats and In The Know sidebars: I would not do Paris without this little book.
You zip through at break neck speed what takes this blogger HOURS (yes!) to create and publish and so…
…To Be Continued…

I adored Paris and the Orsay-so glad you could all go!
Bonjour, Anita,
So nice to see your photos….we were just there in the exact same spots.
And, I agree, the Musee D’Orsay is the best. We watched the clouds overhead
spill across the sculptures, making them come alive. And, Rodin’s home
museum is a favorite place. Relaxed.
