The blog turned 5 years old back in October while I was still in shock from Trump winning the election—we can all agree that this has been one crazy year. I promised myself I’d do the annual photo and blog post before the end of the year, so here it is.
Borrowing tradition ~ 5th wedding anniversary gift is wood ~ a major theme in my novel, Peach Seed Monkey (yes, still revising; don’t get me started.)
Never had an imaginary friend but dealing with fictional characters must be like having a bunch of them occupying your headspace and eventually infiltrating your real space; sitting beside you as you tie your shoes, or standing with you at the sink as you wash rice.
To celebrate this 5th birthday I’m sharing an essay I wrote in 2011 titled, The Waiting Room — published on Left Coast Writers’ Roadwork. The piece is an homage to characters. Where would we be without them…

This reminds me of one of my favorite plays Six Characters in Search of an Author; Written by: Luigi Pirandello: but yes they speak to you and harass you into telling their story. I’m glad you had been hounded by them because we all benefit from this intrusion.
Congratulations! Very proud of you. Xox
