It’s Peach Season!

SUN CREST peach, northern California, paired with “Strike It Rich” rose

Georgia, The Peach State, is 2,000 miles from California, The Golden State, but this time of the year, my birth home and current home have a lot in common ~ glorious, juicy ripe peaches.

My favorite source for local stone fruit in northern California is Kashiwase Farms located in Winton. I catch them on Thursdays and Sundays at the Civic Center AIM Farmers Market in San Rafael.

Kashiwase has many lovely varieties of yellow and white peaches and nectarines and Art is always there with tips on which variety fits your needs. At the start of the season he sent me home with this EARLY RICH variety for grilling:

More recently, to make peach cobbler, Art sold me ELEGANT LADY, for her perfect balance of tart and sweet:

I leave the skin on and this time added blueberries

I like to add lemon zest to the filling and also to the crust sometimes

Drop biscuit crust, fast & delicious
Life doesn’t get any better than this!

🍑 Stay tuned for at least two more peach-related posts before summer ends…
